Javelinas on Parade - Sedona, Arizona

Ms. Mock-Jones is participating in the Sedona "Javelinas on Parade" public art project.    Pictures of the javelinas' progress will be posted below so you can be part of the process as she develops and completes the mama and baby javelinas for the participating sponsor, Verde Valley Sanctuary.

Camouflaged-elinas are on display at the Verde Valley Sanctuary's new location at 2070 W. Highway 89A in Sedona, Arizona - next door to the Coffee Pot Restaurant, 101 Omelets.  Stop by and visit when you are in town.

It is cold in Sedona today, so working by the fire

Now to work on the base - 3 ft tall and not easy to maneuver!

In order to paint this, I put the base up on a rolling table so I can turn it

and have it higher for convenience.  Here is the initial background color

of red rock/dirt and the design for the prickly pear cactus.

The base is complete - front                     and back

Next step is a protective UV coating, then they will be permanently mounted on the base (I just have them sitting on top as you can see)

Stop by the Verde Valley Sanctuary thrift store, on W. Hwy 89A, see my Javelinas and support a great cause.

NOVEMBER 10th, 2007  Join us for the Javelinas on Parade Gala Auction where the Javelinas will be auctioned off for charity.  If you want to bid, you will be up against my husband, who says we can't give them up!
